Job Title

STEaM facilitator

We are seeking a great communicator with excellent interpersonal skills for the role of STEAM Facilitator. You will be responsible for developing learning activities and hands-on material, tending to individual student needs, and communicating regularly with parents. You will also be responsible for continuous development, growth, and learning in the areas of coding, robotics, CAD/3D printing, mechatronics, and problem solving in order to provide our students with continuous growth in their learning experience

To ensure success as a STEAM teacher, candidates should have a strong quantitative background, research and problem solving background, demonstrate empathy, and have good written and verbal communication skills. Ultimately, a top-notch STEM teacher will have excellent classroom management abilities and engage students with the subject matter.

STEAM Facilitator Responsibilities:

  • Developing STEM curricula.
  • Planning daily lessons.
  •  Adopting a data-driven attitude towards measuring learner progress.
  • Developing STEAM learning activities and hands-on material for classes.
  • Attending to individual student needs.
  • Demonstrating an awareness of different student backgrounds and cultures.
  • Communicating regularly with parents.
  • Providing extra support to students who need it.
  • Monitoring student growth to identify strengths and areas for improvement.
  • Using learner data to constantly refine your curriculum.
  • Providing regular feedback to students.

STEAM Facilitator Requirement

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEAM field.
  • Knowledge of STEAM best practices.
  • Willingness to learn and grow.
  • Research Skills
  • Empathy and great interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Proficiency with basic computer software such as Word, Excel, and Google Apps.
  • Experience working with children and adolescents.
  • Previous experience as a STEAM teacher will be advantageous.
  • Good classroom management skills.

Administrator

The MakersPlace is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Administrator to manage day-to-day operations and provide administrative support to ensure the smooth running of our programs. The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating activities, managing communications, handling office tasks, and supporting the team in achieving our mission of advancing STEAM education across Africa.

Administrator Key  Responsibilities:

  • Oversee general office operations, including scheduling, organizing meetings, and maintaining office supplies.
  • Manage internal and external communications, including answering phone calls, responding to emails, and handling inquiries from students, parents, and partners.
  • Coordinate logistics for workshops, events, and training sessions, including venue setup, participant registration, and material distribution.
  • Maintain accurate records and files, including attendance, program data, and financial documents.
  • Support the finance team in processing invoices, expense reports, and budget tracking.
  • Assist with the preparation of reports, presentations, and other documents for meetings or grant applications.
  • Ensure the smooth flow of information between different departments, including program coordinators, instructors, and leadership.
  • Manage calendars and appointments for key staff members.
  • Support recruitment and onboarding of new staff members, including scheduling interviews and preparing orientation materials.
  • Monitor and report on the performance of administrative processes, suggesting improvements where necessary.

Administrator  Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, Education, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in teaching robotics, coding, or STEM subjects.
  • Strong knowledge of block-based programming languages (Scratch, mBlock) and text-based languages (Python, C++).
  • Familiarity with educational robotics platforms (LEGO Mindstorms, mBot, Arduino, Raspsberry Pi).
  • Experience preparing students for robotics competitions is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
  • Passionate about inspiring young learners and fostering creativity in the classroom.

Key  Responsibilities:

  • Design visually engaging materials for digital and print media, including flyers, brochures, social media graphics, posters, and presentations.
  • Develop branding materials and maintain a consistent visual identity across all content.
  • Create multimedia content (images, graphics, videos) for website, social media, newsletters, and promotional campaigns.
  • Collaborate with marketing and program teams to conceptualize and develop content strategies for events, workshops, and campaigns.
  • Create and edit short videos to highlight key activities and success stories from our programs.
  • Design and maintain materials for educational resources (curriculum guides, lesson plans, instructional videos).
  • Stay updated on design trends and implement new techniques to improve the impact of visual content.
  • Manage and update content across digital platforms, ensuring timely and accurate information.
  • Provide creative input for marketing and outreach efforts to increase engagement with students, educators, and parents.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a graphic designer, content creator, or similar role.
  • Proficiency in design software (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar tools).
  • Strong portfolio showcasing creative design work for print and digital media.
  • Ability to create and edit video content using video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience working with educational or non-profit organizations is a plus.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with students in primary and secondary schools, strong expertise in robotics and coding, and a dedication to fostering creativity and problem-solving skills. This role is crucial to equipping students with the skills needed for global competitions and technological innovation.

Key  Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver engaging robotics lessons for students from Grades 1 to 12.
  • Guide students through hands-on projects using tools such as LEGO, mBot, Arduino, and other robotics kits.
  • Prepare students for local and international robotics competitions, including FIRST LEGO League, MakeX, ENJOYAI, WRO, and RoboFEST.
  • Design curriculum materials that integrate coding, robotics, and STEAM concepts.
  • Monitor student progress, provide constructive feedback, and support their learning journey.
  • Collaborate with other instructors to improve and adapt teaching methodologies.
