The MakersPlace is proud to celebrate the appointment of our Founder and CEO, Douglas Ayitey Tetteh, to the Board of Directors of STEM is for Everyone, Inc.
This appointment recognises Douglas’ growing contribution to practical STEM education, robotics, AI, coding, and physical computing in Ghana and beyond.
Through The MakersPlace, he has championed hands-on learning experiences that help young people move from curiosity to confidence, and from classroom exposure to real project delivery.
STEM is for Everyone announced Douglas’ appointment as part of its commitment to expanding access to quality STEM education globally.
The organisation highlighted his work in leading practical programmes for young people and educators, designing learning pathways for schools, and supporting major robotics and AI competitions in Ghana.
Speaking on his work and mission, Douglas has often emphasised a simple but powerful belief:
“Talent is everywhere. Access is the gap we must close.”
This belief continues to shape the work of The MakersPlace. Since its establishment, The MakersPlace has worked with schools, universities, government agencies, development partners, and global organisations to make STEM learning more practical, inclusive, and future-focused.
Douglas’ appointment to the Board of STEM is for Everyone strengthens the bridge between local implementation in Africa and global efforts to expand opportunity in STEM. His experience in building programmes, training educators, supporting school leaders, and preparing students for robotics and AI competitions will contribute to the organisation’s mission of creating clearer pathways for underserved learners.
At The MakersPlace, we see this appointment as more than a personal milestone. It is a recognition of the importance of African leadership in shaping the future of STEM education. It also affirms the value of the work being done by educators, partners, parents, and young innovators across Ghana who believe that every child deserves access to practical technology education.
We congratulate Douglas Ayitey Tetteh on this appointment and look forward to the continued impact this new role will bring to young people, educators, and communities across the world.
